Ion v1.6 (6'00) by Joe Wingbermuehle; 1.4kB Download (19kB) | Comments (9584) Ion is a great shell for both the 83 and 83+, to run assembly programs. It's got a program format incompatible with the older AShell/SOS shells, but by now most programs have been ported to Ion, and most new games are also just for Ion. (The TI-86 can also run several Ion progs with the Ion86 emulator.) The standard Ion is rather dull, but because of the module support, you can add the features you want (password protection and maps for example.) One disadvantage is you'll have to install Ion first; a very easy procedure, but you'll have to keep it in mind if you want to copy the shell to another calculator. Besides that it's a great shell. |

Joltima (3'98) Ashell, SOS by Justin Karneges; 24.5kB Download (37kB) | Comments (10023) A good and complex RPG, that keeps you occupied for quite a while. Lead your four guys around the world to get all 8 shards. Note this world is really big: while playing it myself, I even drew a map to find back the towns and stuff. In these towns you can rest your men, buy items and talk to ppl. Outside towns you'll be contanly attacked by enemy creatures (which can get pretty boring after a while). The best game ever, just a bit large, but who needs other games when you haven't completed this one yet?! |

Knight Moves v1.1 (7'00) Ion, Ion86 by Wouter Demuynck port Jonathan Tobe; 0.5kB Download (7kB) | Comments (1) You control a horse and have to try to make as many moves as you can. You can only move the chess-way, in L-shape, and you may not move on the same spot twice. A lovely game, but I doubt you'll play it more than a few times. |

Landmine v2.0 (8'99) Ion, Ion86 by Joe Wingbermuehle; 0.9kB Download (6kB) | Comments (1) We all know Minesweeper, don't we? Well this is just that, except it has levels (with each level having more bombs in it). And it also doesn't "auto-click" the squares next to a no-bomb (empty) square, so you're spending more time "clicking" than you're thinking (which is bad ;) |

Long Worms v1.0 (6'00) asm, Ion86 by Tim Hegyi; 1.3kB Download (2kB) | Comments (1) Like THX1138 this is a Nibbles-like game, but w/o the peas and with a ever-growing snake. Because it lacks hiscore saving, I didn't grade this game real high. |

Lotus Turbo Challenge v1.0 (10'99) Ion, Ion86 by Badja; 9.9kB Download (15kB) | Comments (4) Forget about ZKart and all the tunnel clones; finally a good racing game has been made! With amazing (3D) graphics (level themes), weather, good controls, etc. The levels are quite long (alot of checkpoints), which is bad cuz this way you can't play a "quick game". But overall this game rules! |

Lunar Lander v83z (4'00) Ion, Ion86 by Ahmed El-Helw port John Wyrwas; 1.8kB Download (1kB) | Comments (1) Why on earth was do people take time to make games like this, or even port them! I don't feel like wasting anymore words on this program, sorry. |

Lunar Lander ][ v83z (4'00) Ion by Ahmed El-Helw port John Wyrwas; 1.9kB Download (2kB) | Comments (3) Wew; I thought Lunar Lander was a bad program... that was before I tried this version. The calc (1.10) crashed after running it. Don't even think of downing this file. |

Maze v1.0 (10'00) Ion by Joe Wingbermuehle; 1.3kB Download (6kB) | Comments (1) Try to get to the exit of a maze as fast and effeciently as possible. The mazes come in six sizes, ranging from 15x15 to huge 65x65 tiles, each storing their own high score. Controls are good, program size is good... a plain, simple, but good game. |

Melt Man v1.0 (8'00) Ion, Ion86 by Matthew Landry; 4.6kB Download (14kB) | Comments (1) Like in Alien Breed, you walk around, kill enemies and find the exit. In Melt Man however, the scrolling is even worse: tile-based _and_ screen based (so you can't see an enemy coming if you're at the edge). Also less enemies (one) and variety. I'd certainly go with AB2. |

Minesweeper v2.0 (4'01) Ion, Ion86 by Ryan Bolyard; 4.8kB Download (14kB) | Comments (1) The best Minesweeper I've seen so far. It's got three difficulties, good controls, even custom fields, and actually saves your best times. I also like that your cursor starts on a blank tile (good!). The graphics could be better though (it's hard to distinguish marked and unmarked tiles.) Also could use a teacher key, and be somewhat smaller (needn't be 5kB). Still it's the best one around. |

Orbix v2.0 (8'99) Ion, Ion86 by Joe Wingbermuehle; 1.7kB Download (9kB) | Comments (1) Based upon the 86 version. This version is a little better (except for the wall-graphics.) But after playing Peversi I really think the Othello rules are much better, plus these levels in Orbix don't work. They're not real exciting, and there's two you'll always lose if you start second. The computer is bad. In most levels you can defeat the AI with just a few moves. Also needs multiplayer option. Not real coolez or anything, imho. |

Pikachu v0.1ß (7'00) Ion, Ion86 by Merlijn & Flo; 2.3kB Download (5kB) | Comments (5) Um yeah. If you're a Pokemon(tm)-fan you might wanna take a look at the six (!) different pictures of Pikachu. Otherwise, don't look at the screeny or you might suffer severe mental damage. |

Punchout v.41b demo (4'00) Ion by Harper Maddox; 12.4kB Download (9kB) | Comments (4) Finally a fighting game for your TI! Looks nice, but this demo just has one enemy (and is really easy!) so you'll probably play it just once or twice. It's also very large. |

QuadroBall v1.0 (5'00) Ion, Ion86 by Sean Reed; 1.8kB Download (38kB) | Comments (2) Get your arrow to the other side of the screen and back again, without getting hit by the balls moving at random speeds. Not a bad game, but i got tired of it after playing a few times. |

Race 2000 (8'00) Ion by Bryant Lee; 1.8kB Download (1kB) | Comments (2) Just give it a cool name like Race 2000 and hundreds of downloads are guaranteed. This game is alot like ZKart-3D, and it also plays alright, the graphics however ain't that good. Looks like Glasscars, but it ain't 3-D. No hiscore saved. I'm not impressed. |

R-Type v2.0 (4'00) Ion, Ion86 by Pascal Jansz; 1.0kB Download (4kB) | Comments (1) Guide your ship up and down so it doesn't collide with the mines. Three difficulty levels each with seperate hiscore. Collision detection is not yet perfect, and I miss the cool features (all too basic). |

Serpent v1.0 (9'00) AShell, SOS by J. Le Pévédic; 0.7kB Download (2kB) | Comments (1) You play a nibbles-snake, and must evade the pixels appearing at random for as long as possible, while speed gradually increases. Good idea, bad game: no hiscore, slow/irresponsive controls (awful!) and some pixels appearing right in your path. |

Shoot! v0.3 (6'00) Ion by Laurent TU; 1.3kB Download (10kB) | Comments (1) A Wak-A-Goomba game, where you must smack the white smileys (by pressing 1-9) but leave the black ones alone. You have less time to hit one each level, making it quite hard. However it does not save hiscores, which is bad. |

Slopes v2.0 (11'99) Ion by Ian Graf; 1.5kB + levels (1.5kB) Download (20kB) | Comments (1) You are a hardcore skier. Evade objects like rocks and trees, and keep collecting time and life in order to survive. Three levels included (each with seperate hiscore), but also an on-calc level editor! It's just the controls are a little irresponsive at times. |

Snake Killer v2.0 (4'00) Ion by Evan Hoke; 0.8kB Download (1kB) | Comments (1) Another welcome change to the classic Nibbles game. You control a real small snake and must let the enemy snake (which is ever-growing) kill himself before he kills you. He'll always come straight towards you so you can easily let him hit his own tail. In further levels however, he can go right through his tail several times, making it more difficult. Could use more features 'n stuff. |

Solitaire v1.1 (9'00) Ion by J. Le Pévédic; 2.0kB Download (4kB) | Comments (1) Remove all pieces (except for the last one) by jumping one over another. The game's ok, just a little too basic, only seven levels, and all in french; bluh! |

Solytare v2.11 (10'99) Ion, Ion86 by Michael Pearce port Jason Kovacs; 2.4kB Download (5kB) | Comments (1) A bad port of the over-famous Solytare. The game still works of course, but graphics ain't that good (really small), and controls are extremely slow! Every pixel takes an eternity... These problems should be easy to fix though. |

SpaceWar v2.0 (8'99) Ion, Ion86 by Joe Wingbermuehle; 1.2kB Download (6kB) | Comments (1) Win a level by destroying all enemies, lose when one runs into you. You can move in four directions (abit weird since you're in space). Anyway the game works, but doesn't have too many special features that really made me wanna play it again. |

Splat (4'00) Ion by Paul Robson; 2.3kB Download (38kB) | Comments (1) Kinda weird game. You have to collect all coins, but you may not move off screen. The screen slowly scrolls and you can change the direction by going over an arrow. Funny, but there're too few levels included (2). A good level editor for DOS is included, so this still could become a nice puzzle game. (* Grade will increase if more levels get available) |

Sqrxz v1.2 (8'00) Ion by Jimmy Mårdell port Solignac Julien; 6.7kB + levels (1.6kB) Download (105kB) | Comments (1) We all oughta know Sqrxz by now. Sqrxz is a cool platform/puzzle game. It's a port of the TI-86 version. The port's just like the original (with some extra scrolling because of the smaller screen) just a lot slower. Too bad, for it removes some action from the game. Remember to set it at fast. The game's still nearly as cool, but a bit large for an 83. |

Starship Commander v1.2 (4'00) Ion by Andreas Doktar port John Wyrwas; 2.7kB Download (2kB) | Comments (1) Man, these Starshit games are really getting annoying. Yet another evade the asteroids (ships here) game which doesn't have any features at all (not even hiscore saving). Did I mention it's big too? Try 7G. |

Subhunt v1.4 (9'00) Ion, Ion86 by Sam Heald; 2.0kB Download (27kB) | Comments (1) Drop depth charges to destroy the submarines coming by. The submarines move at different speeds and heights and they fire at will (you can take three hits). The first levels are too easy (don't have to do anything but fire), but from level eight the enemies get a new weapon which you will have to evade. Linear difficulty increase would be better. |

Target v1.0 (4'01) Ion, YAS by Emir Sakic; 2.1kB Download (4kB) | Comments (1) Shoot the targets before they reach the bottom. G/O after missing ten of 'em. The game starts slowly - too slowly. Not a quick game to play because you first have to shoot 200 of those thingies before it gets interesting. Sigh. Also always one at a time :( |

Uncle Worm v1.1 (12'99) Ion by Badja; 2.0kB Download (12kB) | Comments (2) Like Peaworm86, you control a snake which you can turn in any direction. It's playable at three speeds, each with its own hi-score. After eating ten peas you go to the next, smaller level. Eventually levels become too small to even turn around, so even skill won't help you to get a higher score. |

Walls (5'00) Ion, Ion86 by Jonathan Tobe; 0.5kB Download (3kB) | Comments (1) How original. Looks like a normal Tunnel game, plays like a Tunnel game... in fact, it is yet another Tunnel game. Nothing special here. Five speeds, but just one hiscore; no difficulty increase, etc. |

X-Ball v2.0 (8'00) Ion, Ion86 by Solignac Julien; 1.2kB + levels (0.4kB) Download (8kB) | Comments (1) You control the horizontal movement of a bouncing ball, and must clear each level by collecting two identical bricks. It's got just five levels to start with, but also an on-calc level editor so you can make all you want. It could use a few stats on screen, and the ability to begin at a higher level. |

XTreme Tunnel (6'00) Ion, Ion86 by DrMario; 0.6kB Download (2kB) | Comments (1) Yet another racing game. Not a good clone: no score recorded and the tracks are always the same difficulty (ie they don't start easy and get harder). No recommendations here. |

Yoshi v1.1 (8'99) Ion, Ion86 by Brandon Sterner; 2.5kB Download (5kB) | Comments (1) Yoshi is a game in the Tetris class. Like in columns you have to put two of the same bricks on top of each other, but instead of controlling the falling pieces, you now control the pieces already fallen. The game itself is very good. It lacks a pause-key, and - looking at ZTetris - multiplayer. Everything else is perfect. |

ZTetris v1.1 (11'99) Ion, Ion86 by Jimmy Mårdell port Ahmed El-Helw; 3.3kB Download (21kB) | Comments (4) The same ZTetris as on all TI-calcs, ported from ti82 (which is ported from ti85 ;). Perfect singleplayer, or multiplayer against any other ZTetris version (like ti86: tested ok). The only bug I know of is that linkplay doesn't work between TI-83es ROM v1.10 vs 1.1001 =( |
