The first of Free Bird's three power (?) tools: the smallest password protection program. Instead of a "big" program (On86=0.6kb) you'll get a non-user-friendly one: besides displaying a block when you push a key it doesn't say a thing. Nothing better than On86, just smaller.

OMFG! This game is sweeet! A great shooter like Alien Breed with all features like doors, all kinds of items, enemies (and bosses), four weapons, intex consoles (stores). When I reviewed the demo, I said it was too slow. This has been fixed though: this game now runs smooth and fast, with scrolling levels (20 of 'em even). Really amazing. Games usually take quite a while. You can continue using passwords, but not with a quick save. Also on the 83 it fills the entire memory. That's why it can't get a 100% score, but the game itself: perfection. hi pause

Ion is a great shell for both the 83 and 83+, to run assembly programs. It's got a program format incompatible with the older AShell/SOS shells, but by now most programs have been ported to Ion, and most new games are also just for Ion. (The TI-86 can also run several Ion progs with the Ion86 emulator.) The standard Ion is rather dull, but because of the module support, you can add the features you want (password protection and maps for example.) One disadvantage is you'll have to install Ion first; a very easy procedure, but you'll have to keep it in mind if you want to copy the shell to another calculator. Besides that it's a great shell.

Going off the track slows down, and there's a lot of objects on the track which stops your car when you hit them. Aaron's Raycasting Engine still under construction (it's likely to crash instantly and blow up your house or something.) But actually it's an ubercool RPG!! If you thought the FOV (field of view) in Joltima was leet, check this. Also has a fast mode if you think all this prettyness is too slow. Either way, a beautiful game with greyscales and good graphics.
The game itself contains several screens with objects, enemies (just one kind so far..), doors, switches, chests with items in it. These items can be herbs, keys, or new armor and weapons. And this stuff can have special effects, for example a sword of murder doing extra damage. Your character has your selected attributes (like strength for carrying stuff and damage, dexterity for hitting, etc.) like a real RPG. This game just has so much, but it's still unfinished. Meaning, it isn't _that_ big. So it just needs to get bigger, and also coming up is different enemies, missile weapons and an experience system. Can hardly wait.... pause

Yet another racing game. Not a good clone: no score recorded and the tracks are always the same difficulty (ie they don't start easy and get harder). No recommendations here.

Yet Another Shell (YAS) v0.94 (5'99) by Aaron Curtis; 5.3kB

My favorite shell. Looks nice and supports most features: APD, contrast, shows descriptions, file size, mem free and battery level, five renamable groups, hide, delete, nice icon support, and the best TI-85/82 emulation around (can run games >16kb!); just no password protection (no big deal). A bit large, but worth it!

Yoshi v1.1 (8'99) Ion, Ion86 by Brandon Sterner; 2.5kB

Yoshi is a game in the Tetris class. Like in columns you have to put two of the same bricks on top of each other, but instead of controlling the falling pieces, you now control the pieces already fallen. The game itself is very good. It lacks a pause-key, and - looking at ZTetris - multiplayer. Everything else is perfect. hi

Yugi prevents anyone from deleting your memory. Resets (and self tests) will be harmless and deleting files must be done with the cos-key instead of enter. Very small and source is well-commented. Btw: doesn't crash programs like the Rascall memlock.

Good looking chess. Features 4greys, unlimited undos, save/load games, two-player only. Not all good though: it doesn't detect check/G-O and no AI. Implemented this game would really rule! (100%?) 2p

This is version 9.0, although compared to the previous version, I'd call it v3.2 or something. Barely changed, and hiscore still doesn't work!! It is saved alright, but sometimes replaced by a lower score. Again, get the TI-85 version. pause

Shoot tiles to make groups which makes them go away. With some strategy you can make a lot come down at once, which always is a lot of fun. It's also cool to let them bounce via the sides to their place. Controls and movement is perfect, five difficulties each with seperate hiscore, quite small program size, and fun to play. hi pause

Ztatuz v0.1 (10'98) by Kirk Meyer; 0.6kB

Running this will put a status-bar at the bottom of your (TI-OS) screen showing some modes: angle, notation number base, and decimal mode. These modes can easily be changed with F1-5. Not completely bugless, but this could be pretty usefull.

ZTetris v3.0 (8'97) Usgard, YAS by Jimmy Mårdell; 3.5kB

Classic tetris. Both singleplayer and multiplayer! Available for (and compatible with) nearly every TIcalc. Good scoring system, some multiplayer options (handicap), drop-key, rotating left/right, teacher-key... A few things that can be improved (grid, survival mode?) but this is probably as good as it gets. Really great game! hi pause 2p

It's supposed to be an arcade shooter, alot like my own Nemesis. In level one you have to get passed the asteroids, in later levels destroy the ships. Your ship has four different weapons. However it's terribly, really slow. Too slow to be a real arcade. And big (20kb) too. The idea is good, but the program ain't. pause
