intro

What can I say? It's a checkers game. The best-looking checkers game you're
gonna get out of a TI-86. Currently only 2-player mode is supported, and you
have to share one calc. Originally I had planned to have a 1-player mode where
you could play againt the calc & a 2 player mode that would run over the link
port, but I'm getting tired of this program & I haven't been able to get another
calc to test the 2-calc mode. (No, I couldn't have used VTI for that.)

controls

Anyways... Controls are arrow keys & 2nd (or enter), wrapping around the edges
may seem a little weird, but it works. If you want better gray shades, press *
(times) to trade less flicker for better shades. The exit key will always exit.
(I think) Move the cursor around & press 2nd to select the piece, then select
your destination.

jumps

Seems this is the most obscure rule to checkers, (maybe people just don't like
it) but if you can jump, you *must* jump. If you have at least one jump available,
one of the pieces that can jump will be automatically selected for you. This may
not be the best jump, but it's one of them. Multi-jumps are automatically
detected.

more

Yeah, I know, in real checkers it's _red_ and black, but it's hard to do red
with 4 level grayscale, so you'll just have to live with white. Another thing
you might wanna try if you're really bored (or if you think I might have missed
a bug in the jump detection code) is to play where you're *Trying* to get all of
your pieces jumped. It's not as easy as it sounds, but it makes a much faster
game.

comments

If you have any questions or comments, or if you've found a bug, you can email

game and _never_ look directly at a turnip. Have fun!
